Harnessflex Specialist Conduit Systems Protects Wiring On New Cummins Euro 4 Engines
Specialist conduit systems from Harnessflex have been selected to protect wiring and connectors on the new Cummins Euro 4 engine range currently being introduced throughout Europe. Initially, Harnessflex were brought in to solve a problem on the harness application. This led to Cummins asking Harnessflex to look at the complete wiring application harness. Depending on the engine size there are between six and nine different connector interfaces protecting vulnerable wiring on all the senders and sensors on the engine. These are vital to the engine's ECU and the Harnessflex systems protect what can be a vulnerable location if left unprotected. Harnessflex worked closely in the development of the interfaces with Cummins and many of their suppliers. ?What we did was to build up units for installation on a prototype of the new engine and Cummins were extremely impressed with both the finish and degree of protection the system afforded,? explained Bob Rudd of Harnessflex. ?Being specified on the Cummins engine really is good news for us and has already lead to a number of other enquiries from automotive electrical connector suppliers.? ?The new Cummins Euro 4 engine has been causing a considerable amount of interest at exhibitions throughout Europe as have the new Harnessflex connector interfaces that have been developed for it,? added Bob Rudd. ?Harnessflex is working with a number of leading manufacturers to provide innovative connector interface solutions.? Combining a full range of fittings and connectors the Harnessflex range offers full electrical system integrity protecting any vulnerable part of the electrical harness affording stability and support for the system. Its use ensures that there are no vulnerable connectors exposed to the elements, which could so easily cause malfunction and failure compromising the operation of the vehicle. -ENDS-
